This year, a new theater club was introduced to YHS. STAGE, which stands for Student Theatrical Arts Group Experience, recently put on its first production and looks forward to future performances.
STAGE started in November with a group of students who wanted to expand the presence of theater in YHS. They met online for some time, establishing a timeline for the year, emailing potential advisors, arranging meetings with school faculty, and more. Then, in March the club became official and work on the play, titled “The Broken Clock,” started.
The Broken Clock is an original production that was created by STAGE, starting off with individual scenes improvised around a common prompt. Over the course of several weeks, the groups figured out what they wanted to keep, cut out, and improve. By the end, the events of the play were firmly established and the dialogue, for the most part, was improvised. Next year, they intend to explore more types of theater, so stay tuned. This year was a lot of fun and STAGE hopes you consider joining next year!
