Are you a curious person? Are you interested in journalism? Do you have topics you want to explore and questions you want to answer? If so, then Blunt Youth Radio may be the place for you! We are looking for new members. Blunt is a high school radio show that is produced through USM’s radio station, WMPG. Members of Blunt are high school students in the greater Portland area. It is super easy to join Blunt, you can just show up! We meet every Thursday from 4-7 pm at the WMPG station on USM’s campus in Portland. The show airs from 6-7 pm on 90.9 FM.

Blunt is produced entirely by high school students; from engineering, and managing equipment; to coming up with show ideas and reaching out to guests; to coordinating live and prerecorded interviews. Typically you work in a group of around 5 people to plan the show. There are no limits to the topics you can explore. We’ve had shows about food critics in Portland, the American School System, Thrifting in Portland, and Local BIPOC Artists among other things.
