On October 19th, Yarmouth High School gathered on “Fire Drill Hill” to carve pumpkins for Camp Sunshine, a free, year-round camp for kids with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Once carved, the pumpkins were transported to L.L. Bean by the Interact Club where they were included in the annual Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival, a family-friendly festival with jack-o-lanterns, fall games, and treats. Each year, proceeds from the event go directly to Camp Sunshine to help fund their programs. Interact Club leader Colby Ting, said, “The carving was a huge success, with all of the Interact Club working as a team. Once again, we were able to carve a ton of pumpkins which enabled L.L. Bean to give a donation to Camp Sunshine.” The event was a great success with over 500 pumpkins being carved and displayed at L.L. Bean, while also giving students an opportunity to flex their creative sides and support an important cause.
