Letter to the Editors

Dear Clipper Chronicle Editors,

For me, high school is a big step up from middle school. The classes are more informative and interesting, the days go by faster, we get a late start on Wednesdays, and the food is definitely better, except for one problem; the Lunch Line.

So, you want to get school lunch. First, you have to decide whether you want to get the day’s special meal or the daily options (Clipper Chickens, Burgers, Grilled Cheeses, etc.) If you get the daily options, your wait in line is close to none, but if you want the daily special, the wait is very long. Additionally, if you want a drink or side, then you have to make your way through the ocean of people moving in every direction.

I’m not just saying this as a freshman—I’ve heard upperclassmen complain about similar issues and voice ideas on how to fix it. This brings me to what I think the solution to this problem could be. Be mindful of the fact that I’m open to hearing other ideas and options; I’m in no way saying that my idea is the best. Nonetheless, I think we should move the salad bar towards the fridge/freezer which might combat the line, which will be a win.

As I said before, high school has been a big improvement compared to the Middle School, but this is the one part of high school that feels regressive. Now to be fair, this is the only cafeteria in the Yarmouth School System, that, to my knowledge, isn’t connected to an auditorium, but I still feel like, especially with the student government, a new system could be created to combat this issue and make getting school lunch less of a free-for-all and more of a system.

From, Sebastian Silver
