Freshmen Cruising Along

Crocs, unicorn ears, stuffed animals, and more could be seen in many classrooms today at YHS. We were sure kids under ten would be in the top three. Unfortunately, the freshman got 4th for most dressed. At break, we sent Raphael M, with a Pokémon hat and a galaxy hoodie, and Syrin H with space buns, a tutu, and unicorn glitter up to the podium, putting us in second place for best dressed! Coltrane V had an incredible performance once again, stealing the judge's breath away with his piano solo. He was later found standing with a toy squid atop his head, awaiting results. When the results were out, it was revealed that we had come in third place for piano, beating the sophomores! Things were looking good for the Freshman in the morning. After school, we watched our dodgeball team (Jillian, Erica, Lexi W, Iggy, Owen C, and Gabe J)  prepare for battle. They had a few team huddles and warmed up. They played well, taking out several opposing team members, but the seniors and the sophomores overpowered them, and despite our team's gusto, we ended up getting fourth. Later, we headed to the library and watched intently and silently while Alyosha and Abdullah worked hard to get us in third place for chess. More people gathered later at night to prepare for caf decorating. The dance group has also had some productive rehearsals and is excited to perform at Friday’s assembly. The freshman did well today and will come back stronger than ever over the next two days to finish up the week.
