The Yarmouth Field Hockey team went into the season in last place, with no seniors and their varsity team consisting mainly of underclassmen. They certainly did much better than expected. Yarmouth started off the season in last place, but grew throughout the season and by the time of playoffs held the #5 seed. Their first and only playoff game of the season was in the rain against #4 Leavitt Academy. The score remained 0-0 throughout the first three quarters, with both teams playing hard and well. With less than five minutes left in the game, Leavitt scored a goal and ultimately won, moving on to the semi-finals. Captains Colleen Lynch and Sophie Smith say they are “very happy with the success we did have” and they “can’t wait to see what awaits in the future.” They feel the team has a strong bond, hard-working players, and skill that will definitely carry into the next season, when they will return all of the current members of their varsity team. Good luck next year!
