In a three-to-nothing victory, the Yarmouth Clipper’s girls' volleyball team took home another Class B Championship title Friday, October 28th at the USM Gorham gym. Triumphant against the Gardiner Tigers, the Clippers were made four-time consecutive victors for Class B. The game was finished in three killer sets, and we saw an impressive performance from the team. The first set ended 25-23, leaving the audience hopeful for a suspenseful next few sets. Yet, when the second set ended 25-16 in an unforgiving win, that hope was seriously deterred. The final and deciding set ended 25-20 with the Clippers falling to the floor in excitement.
Yarmouth celebrating after their states win.
Everyone on the team brought their best spirits and skills to the state's game. Senior Dorcas Bolese scored the final point with an admirable hit and had a total of six kills in the game. After the win, Bolese said “it felt sickening” to not only win that last point but to win states overall. When asked about the pressure of the game, she mentioned the Tiger’s 6’4’’ middle hitter, saying when facing her, “the pressure was there.” Another big scorer, junior Annie Vinnakota had nine kills and seven digs. Brianna Torres, a senior, had 14 digs in the game and a 100% serving streak. Also with a flawless serving streak, sophomore Madi Beaudoin stayed consistent through the game, bringing us closer to victory. Blocking from Grace Keaney and Leila Tati-Pambou provided a considerable number of points and gave our team an advantage by turning the front row into an iron wall. The game was action-packed with crowded stands; a must-watch from this season.
Congratulations Clippers on another golden volleyball!
